5 Stars
Mattie Spencer
owner of Sweet treats Bakery, along with her three younger sister’s work hard
to try and make it a thriving business.
When Mattie took on the job of raising her younger sisters she let love
and marriage pass her by. As she watches her sisters grow up, get married and
now with families of their own is she content on just being an aunt? Tyler Jacobs
is raising his 7 year old daughter by himself after he lost his wife Tessa 3
years earlier in childbirth. A local firefighter, he drops in the bakery every morning
for his coffee, a morning chat with Mattie and her newest sweet treat, mint
meltaways. As feelings between the two look like they are turning to romance there
is one thing that will place a gulf between them that will be hard to cross. Even though
Mattie loves Jacob’s daughter Jessie, she wants children of her own. At 35 years
of age is she to old to go through childbirth? Can Jacob let go of the fear and death of his wife
and son or will he let Mattie slip through his fingers? Will he let go and let
God handle the situation? What part does Jessie play in this romance?
This was the
first book I have read in the Sweet Treats Series but I fell in love with the
story. As I looked the others up I see where
these can be read as a standalone even though you will meet some of the same
characters. This was such a heartwarming story that shows us the main thing we
need is faith and that everything is in His hands and He knows the outcome. This is a great afternoon read that I would
recommend for everyone.
